TORONTO, ON - CCS Rights Management is pleased to announce it has entered into a worldwide publishing deal with Saskatchewan native Poor Nameless Boy (Joel Henderson). The boutique publishing house led by industry veteran Jodie Ferneyhough is growing its roster to include rising stars in the folk scene.
"I've heard his music over the past couple years and when we finally saw him live at Reeperbahn, there was instant chemistry with and connection to the music. We've been looking for an artist ... Continue reading ...
Recently, after a show I had someone message me about purchasing "The Activity Book" in hard copy CD from me. They wrote informing me that it did not work in their computer or elsewhere. I've now checked 5 other copies at home here and I find the same result.
While I work on understanding why this is the case, and how many disks are affected. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you purchased a copy of the album and it does not work, message me. I'm more than happy to send yo...
FYI: Creative Saskatchewan has funded both the making of the album, and the Market and Export development of the album. They have been a massive support of the record and they are allowed to celebrate with all of the music successes along the way. Continue reading ...
Had the pleasure of spending a few days at Wildwood Artist Retreat on Pender Island, BC. They've set up a wonderful venue and retreat for artists who are on the road. They offer songwriting workshops, videos, a place to record demos, and a wonderful cat who loves attention but it's all in your face about it.
Carmelle and I got to relax for two days and talk with Zoltan and Lauren about life. We ended up shooting a live video to Dream Boat. Hope it finds you well.
MUSIC REVIEW OF THE DAY: POOR NAMELESS BOY - BRAVERY
Beats me how a Saskatchewan boy knows how to write about the Atlantic Ocean, but Joel Henderson (aka Poor Nameless Boy) nails it on the song of that title, plus the cut Dream Boat, where he's sailing with a few too many dreams to take on another, perhaps a lover, we're not told. Anyway, sailing imagery is just one of his strengths, on his second, very strong collection.
Henderson's an acoustic storyteller, with that magic touch, the ability t...
Prairie singer-songwriter Joel Henderson is ready to reveal his latest recordBravery, and Exclaim! is giving you the chance to hear it a week before its official release. Henderson records under the pseudonym of Poor Nameless Boy, and he previously shared the album’s title track. Now, the record has arrived in full, and you can hear his songs tell the stories of both his own life and the lives of those he’s met ... Continue reading ...
Published Dec 16, 2015Despite the moniker, Poor Nameless Boy is actually the project of Regina-based musician Joel Henderson. He'll be releasing a new LP titled Bravery in the new year, but before the entire album lands, Exclaim! has got your exclusive first listen to title track. "Bravery" pairs mellow, folksy, acoustic guitar-driven instrumentation with Henderson's earnest, emotional voc...
Excited to officially announce the beginning of recording a new Poor Nameless Boy record. Had a great couple nights of drum tracking with Kyle Halvorson.
Chose to record with Brad Prosko in B-rad studios and he's already shown moments where he's more excited about this record than I am! That's always a great sign.
Want to thank Creative Sask for their support for this record and I'll be bringing more updates as we go. We worked with Creative Saskatchewan quite diligently to present an album a... Continue reading ...
“So to get anybody on your side, especially someone who can say, ‘Here’s a record we’re proud of. You need to listen to it.’ I can just step back. I’m happy to give that up because she’ going to be way better at it than I am.”

Lately I've had some people close to me ask me questions along the
lines of, “When are you going to make music for God?” or “It's
great what you do, but it would be even better if you were a
Christian artist.”
When I started writing music, it became a passion of mine to
continue to become better as a songwriter. Much like poetry, film,
television, I realized that with an audience there comes a sense of
standing behind what you write. The songs become a reflection of who
you a...
Thanks to all who came out to see the shows. Danny and I wanted to do some quick shows for friends and family in support of his first full length album "Bad Omen Walking".
Big thank you to Creative Saskatchewan! They provided financial assistance for my trip down to Kansas City, MO for Folk Alliance International 2014. It's such a great feeling to feel supported from back home.

I am very proud of this song for a few reasons. 1. This song took me a long time to write. I probably rewrote it at least 12 times, each time not quite satisfied. It represents hard work at songwriting to me with the intent o... Continue reading ...
2013 was fantastic to me. Released the first full length album. New live music videos. Live in studio performance/interview with CBC Radio One.
It was a big honour to hear that Taron Cochrane (social media genius/local music enthusiast) named me #8 on his top 10 albums of 2013. Here's what he had to say.
The Activity Book, Poor Nameless Boy. Born into a musical family (his brother is country artist Chris Henderson) Joel Henderson a.k.a. Poor Nameless Boy was also born with one of the most uni...

It's been an enriching summer which had less performances and more "wasting valuable time with my guitar". However, things to look forward to in Fall 2013 include: Live Radio Performance on CBC, SK/AB tour with Saskatoon artist "Eli for Short", and new live videos to tracks from "The Activity Book".
This fall will be fun and I'm hoping you can be apart of it. Look for tour announcement in the upcoming weeks.
I've been really happy that so many have said positive things about the new album. It's great to hear that type of helpful feedback. CBC has been playing the track "Start In Summerland" so if you wish to request it at your local station, feel free! Looking forward to summer and playing some shows in the sun. Cya soon! Just released the video for Rush Me An Ambulance. Really excited about this song and always wanted to do a video to showcase what the song truly is about. It's a song about people who don't like to ask for help. We power through our little worlds and some of the greatest unhappiness can go unnoticed. Check out the front page or the youtube page! youtube.com/poornamelessboy Continue reading ...
Recently added the first EP to noisetrade.com which is a way for people to still support the music financially or download it for free :) I really like the website and the idea of it. Swing by and see which new artist you can fall in love with. Continue reading ...

This has been a fantastic year for the "Sleep It Through" Ep. It has basically been a year since I first released it and it has inspired me to keep going, press on, and other encouraging metaphors.
